Rotary Club of Boulder City, Nevada
Club #810, District 5300

Rotary is an organization for people who believe and act on SERVICE ABOVE SELF. Rotarians practice the 4-Way Test of the things they think, say, and do. Rotarians give of their time, talent, and money to support their club’s service projects. Being a Rotarian means investing yourself to make a positive difference in the world. Rotary Clubs strive to have members from diverse vocations, recognizing all vocations as valuable and expecting the club as a whole to benefit from this variety of skills.

Membership in Rotary is by invitation to a local club. If you are interested in Rotary, there are several ways to learn about membership. (1) If you know one of our club members, ask that person about Rotary. (2) Use the “contact us” form on this website, and we’ll contact you. (3) One of our members may contact you – because they know of you, and you represent a vocation that would benefit our club.

Any Rotarian may invite a person who demonstrates the characteristics of Service Above Self and integrity to attend a meeting as GUEST OF A MEMBER. This is a chance for the person to meet club members and learn about the club, and for members to meet the new person.

If the club member takes the next step to propose the guest to the Board of Directors as a new member, and the Board accepts the application, the person will be invited as a GUEST OF THE CLUB to attend up to 3 meetings at club expense. During this time the person’s name is presented to the club, so each member can reach out to meet the person and consider how the person can contribute to the club. The individual also considers the investment of time, money, and talent while deciding if membership fits with personal priorities. Assuming membership is a match, the Board elects the person to membership, and the new member is inducted at a regular meeting of the club.

Information for New and Prospective Members

Rotary is an organization of local clubs (which invite service-minded members representing professions in the community) Our club is #810, we were founded in 1937. Rotary was founded in 1905 by Paul P. Harris in Chicago. Currently there are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians in 30,000 clubs, located in 162 countries. Clubs are organized into Districts (ours is #5300). Rotary (RI) is the governing and organizational body, which sponsors many programs that individual clubs could not accomplish. Clubs are members of districts and RI.

Rotary attracts people who believe and act on Service above Self. Rotarians apply the 4-Way Test to what we think, say, and do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary Service

Rotary is organized into four Avenues of Service: (1) Community Service (this is the biggest one for our club), (2) Youth Service, (3) International Service, (4) Vocational Service, and (5) Club Service. Directors are elected to lead each avenue of service. Individuals or committees serve in each area. Review the list of responsibilities and talk with the directors or others involved in each to learn more and volunteer. Our Calendar gives an idea of when various activities occur during the year. You can get involved by sharing your ideas with Board members and others involved in activities and checking out your new member Activities Sheet.
